Investigators later identified Jacorian Deshawn McGregor, 26, who is also known by the nickname “Jaco,” as the primary suspect in the case.

Authorities say additional evidence gathered during the investigation included surveillance footage, electronic communications, and text messages exchanged before and after the shooting.

According to investigators, messages exchanged earlier that day suggested communication between McGregor and Eric Ashley Jr. Prosecutors also allege that, following the incident, individuals ᴀssociated with McGregor sent messages encouraging him to remain out of sight.

After months of investigation, McGregor was arrested in February 2025.

He has been charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths of Berry, Landyn Brooks, and Eric Ashley Jr. Court records indicate he is being held without bond while the case proceeds through the judicial system.

The charges represent allegations, and McGregor is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
