💔🌊 Family Thanks Community After 17-Year-Old Nathan Lowery Is Brought Home Following Mᴀssive Texas Search Effort 🕊️

The family of 17-year-old Nathan Lowery is expressing heartfelt graтιтude to the countless volunteers, first responders, and community members who spent 36 emotional hours searching the Texas coast in hopes of bringing their son home.

Nathan disappeared while fishing near the Texas City Dike. According to his family, he and a friend were using a small raft to place chum in the water when they encountered a powerful current. While others were able to return safely to shore, Nathan did not resurface.

An extensive search quickly followed, involving the U.S. Coast Guard, Texas EquuSearch, Texas Search and Rescue, local first responders, helicopter crews, fishermen, boaters, and numerous volunteers from across the community. Around the clock, search teams worked tirelessly, supported by people who offered food, supplies, boats, prayers, and encouragement to those involved in the rescue effort.

Over the weekend, Nathan was found and returned to his family.

Although the outcome was heartbreaking, his loved ones say the extraordinary compá´€ssion they witnessed throughout the search brought them comfort during one of the darkest moments of their lives. They expressed deep appreciation for every individual who contributed, whether by joining the search, preparing meals for responders, launching boats, sharing information, or simply praying for Nathan’s safe return.

Nathan’s family remembers him as an intelligent, compá´€ssionate, and ambitious young man with an inspiring future ahead of him. He maintained a 4.0 grade point average and dreamed of attending the University of Texas at Austin before pursuing a career as an anesthesiologist.

Outside the classroom, Nathan had a deep love for volleyball and often joked, “Nathan is the name, volleyball is the game.” Above all, however, those closest to him say he genuinely loved people and always sought to encourage those around him.

As they prepare to celebrate his life, the family has asked for continued prayers for Nathan’s two mothers, his father, his sister, his girlfriend, and everyone grieving this tremendous loss.

They also shared that any funds remaining after funeral expenses will be donated in Nathan’s memory to the search organizations that worked tirelessly to find him. They hope the donation will help those groups continue supporting other families facing similar tragedies.

Nathan’s life ended far too soon, but the love shown by an entire community stands as a lasting tribute to the remarkable young man he was and the lives he touched.
