CALIFORNIA — A 24-year-old mother’s d*ath, a brutal attack on her own mother and the disappearance of a 6-week-old baby ended with a sentence of 174 years to life for D’Angelo Webb.

Brandi Hornsby was last seen with Webb on Sept. 30, 2021.

When Brandi suddenly stopped answering her phone, her family became increasingly worried.

Investigators later determined that Brandi had already been d*ad for several days.

According to prosecutors, Webb strangled and stabbed Brandi multiple times inside the home they shared. Her body was then placed inside a suitcase and left in the kitchen.

Meanwhile, Brandi’s mother, Tonya Wilkerson, was desperately trying to find her daughter and her newborn granddaughter.

Tonya went to the home and found a vehicle outside, but nobody answered the door. Eventually, she broke a bedroom window to get inside.

Prosecutors say Webb then attacked her.

They alleged that he strangled Tonya until she lost consciousness before dragging her into the garage.

When she began regaining consciousness, prosecutors say Webb attacked her again with a kitchen knife, stabbing her in the neck and arms and stomping on her head.

Tonya suffered severe injuries and mᴀssive blood loss but survived.

Brandi’s brother heard his mother screaming and forced his way into the garage.

According to prosecutors, he saw Webb attacking Tonya. Webb allegedly turned toward him with the knife before fleeing back inside the house.

Inside was Brandi and Webb’s 6-week-old daughter.

The infant was reportedly crying on a couch as the violence unfolded.

Prosecutors say Webb grabbed the baby, took Tonya’s car keys and fled in her vehicle.

The infant was later dropped off at Webb’s mother’s home.

Back at Brandi’s house, family members waiting for emergency crews began noticing a powerful odor coming from the kitchen.

They followed the smell to a suitcase.

Inside, they discovered Brandi’s body.

Investigators determined she had reportedly been d*ad for at least three days.

The case eventually led authorities to Webb, who had fled to the Bay Area. He was later captured following a police standoff.

Webb was convicted of first-degree mrder, attempted mrder, child endangerment and other charges connected to the case.

He was sentenced to 174 years to life in prison.

The sentence brought a legal conclusion to a case that devastated Brandi’s family—but it cannot undo what happened.

Brandi was a young mother.

Her daughter was only 6 weeks old when her mother was killed.

Tonya went looking for her daughter and nearly lost her own life.

And a baby was carried away from the home where her mother’s body had been hidden.

Years from now, that little girl will be old enough to understand what happened.

She will learn her mother’s name.

She will learn how young Brandi was.

And she will learn that her mother’s life was taken far too soon.
