Nevada Woman Sentenced in Fatal Hit-and-Run That Claimed Life of 32-Year-Old Man

A Nevada court has sentenced 64-year-old Karen Cannon in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Las Vegas that resulted in the death of 32-year-old Patrick Deloriea.

According to court records and investigative reports, Deloriea was crossing a street when he was struck by Cannon, who was driving a Tesla Model Y. Authorities stated that she was traveling at approximately 66 mph in a 35-mph zone at the time of the collision. The impact was so severe that Deloriea was thrown a significant distance before coming to rest.

Instead of remaining at the scene, Cannon reportedly fled. In the aftermath, she told investigators she believed she had struck a coyote, a claim that was later contradicted by physical evidence and the extent of damage to her vehicle.

The case began to unravel after a body shop owner reported suspicious damage on Cannon’s vehicle to authorities, prompting further investigation. This information ultimately led police to connect the damage to the fatal collision.
