Growing Up… But Not Letting Go

He’s getting bigger now.
More confident.
More independent.
More curious about the world around him.

But there’s something he still does…
Something small. Something easy to miss.
Punchy still climbs onto his dad’s back.

Not because he can’t walk.
Not because he’s weak.
But because he remembers.
He remembers what it felt like to be small.
To need comfort.
To feel safe only when he was close.
And even though he’s growing…
even though he’s learning to stand on his own…
There’s a part of him that still holds onto that feeling.
Because growing up doesn’t mean forgetting.
It doesn’t mean letting go of the moments that made you feel protected…
the arms that carried you…
the love that helped you survive.
Sometimes, strength looks like independence.
But sometimes…
it looks like choosing to stay close.
