Girl starved to death in ‘house of horrors’ with drugged baby brother locked in cage

A father’s selfish addiction turned his own home into a living hell for his helpless children.

In a case that has left the nation horrified, Robert Buskey Jr., 35, from New York, has been sentenced to 27 years to life in prison after his 5-year-old daughter Charlotte Buskey was found starved to death in what prosecutors described as a “house of horrors.”

On April 14, 2024, emergency responders were called to Buskey’s home and discovered the unimaginable: Charlotte’s severely emaciated body locked inside a bedroom. She had died from extreme dehydration and malnutrition, weighing just a fraction of what a healthy child her age should.

In the dining room, they found her 3-year-old brother locked in a makeshift cage. Prosecutors say the little boy had been drugged so he wouldn’t disturb his father while Buskey allegedly spent his days doing drugs and playing video games.

Authorities revealed that Buskey deliberately confined both children so he could “not be bothered by them.” Food was available in the house — but not for Charlotte, who was left to waste away in isolation.

The Shocking Sentencing

Buskey pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges including murder and child endangerment. On Friday, a judge handed down the harsh sentence of 27 years to life, calling the case one of the most disturbing examples of parental neglect and cruelty.

Prosecutors painted a picture of a father who chose his own vices over the lives of his innocent children. Charlotte’s tiny body showed months of horrific neglect, while her baby brother was kept caged and sedated like an animal.

The surviving brother is now in protective custody and receiving care after the nightmare he endured.

A little girl left to die alone in a locked room… while her father partied and played games next door.

This heartbreaking case has sparked outrage across the U.S., with many questioning how such extreme neglect could go unnoticed for so long. Child welfare agencies are now under scrutiny in the area.

Charlotte Buskey — a beautiful little girl who deserved love, food, and safety — was failed in the worst possible way by the one person who should have protected her.

Rest in peace, sweet Charlotte. Your suffering is over, but the horror of what happened to you and your brother will never be forgotten.

The sentence brings some accountability, but for many, no prison term can ever be long enough for the monster who turned his home into a house of horrors.
