Crew Dearth’s story is one of courage, medical resilience, and extraordinary family love that transformed a life-threatening diagnosis into a journey of hope.
At just 11 months old, Crew was diagnosed with stage 4 hepatoblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of liver cancer that had already spread to his lungs. The diagnosis came as a devastating shock to his family, marking the beginning of a complex and emotionally overwhelming medical journey.
From the very start, Crew underwent intensive chemotherapy in an effort to shrink and control the tumor. Despite the strength of his treatments and the dedication of his medical team, chemotherapy alone was not enough to fully address the severity of his condition.
Faced with limited options, Crew’s family was forced to consider the possibility of a liver transplant as his best chance for survival. In an extraordinary act of love and courage, his aunt Taylor stepped forward to become a living liver donor, offering a portion of her own liver to help save his life. 💖
In June 2025, Crew underwent the transplant surgery. The procedure marked a critical turning point in his journey, offering renewed hope after months of uncertainty and fear. Following surgery, Crew continued with additional chemotherapy to support his recovery and reduce the risk of remaining cancer cells.
The road to recovery was not easy. It required careful monitoring, ongoing treatment, and tremendous patience from both Crew’s family and medical team. However, with time, his condition improved, and his strength slowly returned.
In October 2025, Crew reached a powerful milestone—he rang the Bravery Bell to celebrate remission. 🔔🎉 This symbolic moment marked the end of his active treatment phase and the beginning of a new chapter filled with hope and healing.
Today, Crew is thriving, continuing to grow and experience life surrounded by his loving family. His journey stands as a testament to what is possible through advanced medical care, determination, and the selfless act of organ donation.
