Jesy Nelson Returns Stronger Than Ever After Heartbreaking Health Battle of Twins: “It’s Game Time!”
Jesy Nelson has made a bold return to the spotlight after taking time off to care for her twins, Ocean and Story, who are bravely fighting a devastating diagnosis of SMA Type 1, a rare and life-threatening muscle-wasting condition. The 34-year-old singer has been fiercely advocating for newborn screening for SMA since her twins’ diagnosis, and she recently celebrated a huge victory in her campaign.
In an emotional Instagram post on Wednesday, Jesy revealed her stunning new hair transformation—a fresh blonde look that marked her return to work. The singer, who had been focused on her daughters’ care since their diagnosis, proudly declared, “Took some time off to rest, and now it’s game time b*****s!” accompanied by a playful, high-energy track, “Game Time” by Thebosswives. Back in January, Jesy shared the heart-wrenching news that her nine-month-old twins were diagnosed with SMA Type 1, which affects muscle strength and movement. Tragically, the condition means her daughters will never walk, and they may not live past the age of two. Despite this, Jesy has continued to push for more newborn testing for the disease and recently received a milestone victory as Health Secretary Wes Streeting announced that more than 400,000 babies will be screened for SMA starting in October 2026.
As Jesy took a moment to embrace her new look, she also reflected on the immense emotional and physical toll that caring for her daughters has taken. She opened up about the daily emotional rollercoaster, explaining, “Some days are really tough, but other days are a bit lighter. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I’m doing it for my girls. They’re incredibly strong.”
Despite the overwhelming circumstances, Jesy remains determined to carry on with her professional life. She has continued filming for her Prime Video series and expressed her hopes that viewers would support her family’s journey as they navigate these incredibly difficult times.
The ongoing treatment for her daughters is grueling, but Jesy remains hopeful, sharing, “My girls are the strongest, most resilient babies. I really believe they will defy all the odds.”
In her latest campaign, Jesy remains focused on advocating for a brighter future for children suffering from SMA. Her mission now includes working tirelessly to make sure no other family has to face the same heartbreaking challenges.
Jesy’s message is clear: despite the pain, she is not backing down. With unwavering determination, she is ready to fight for her daughters and the thousands of babies affected by SMA. It’s truly “game time” for Jesy Nelson.
