A Hero Failed by the System

In Kyiv, Ukraine, a 20-year-old soldier returned from the frontlines after sacrificing everything—losing all his limbs during fierce fighting in the Kharkiv region.

He survived the unimaginable.
He gave more than most ever will.

But what he faced next… was something no one expected.

When he went to a branch of PrivatBank to access his government benefits, he was told he needed to complete a simple step: hold his bank card in his hands for a confirmation photo.

There was just one problem.

He had no hands.

Despite this, the rule stood.
No exceptions.
No flexibility.

He wasn’t allowed to have someone assist him.
And the only alternative offered was a power of attorney—
a process that would delay access to the money he urgently needed.

A soldier who had already lost everything…
now forced to fight a system that couldn’t see beyond its own rules. 💔

When the story became public, it sparked outrage across the country.

Leaders took notice.
The head of the National Bank of Ukraine stepped in, calling the situation unacceptable and promising immediate action.

An apology was issued.
The card would be delivered to him personally.
And the bank acknowledged their mistake, committing to changes so no one else would face the same injustice.

Because sometimes, the hardest battles aren’t fought on the battlefield…
but in the systems meant to support those who sacrificed the most.

This story is a reminder:
Rules should never come before humanity.

And those who gave everything…
deserve more than just procedures—
they deserve understanding, dignity, and respect.
