Zelensky Affirms Support for U.S. Strikes on Iran — But Urges Caution

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky backed the US strikes on Iran – but warned the Trump administration must act decisively to prevent a wider Middle Eastern conflict from erupting.
“Unfortunately, Ukraine knows all too well what this is about. Although Ukrainians never threatened Iran, the Iranian regime chose to become [Vladimir] Putin’s accomplice and supplied him with “shahed” drones, Zelensky wrote on X Saturday.

The Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s regime grew closer to the Kremlin after its 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine, becoming a major backer of Vladimir Putin’s war.
It supplied the Russian tyrant not only with weapons but the technology to produce it in the motherland cheaper and faster.
Russia has pummeled Ukrainian cities with as many as 60,000 Shahed drones, Zelensky said.
“Other nations have also suffered from Iranian-backed terror,” Zelensky added. “Therefore, it is fair to give the Iranian people a chance to rid themselves of a terrorist regime and to guarantee security for all nations that have suffered from terror originating in Iran.”
“It is important to prevent the war from expanding. It is important that the United States is acting decisively.”
The Islamic Republic launched a barrage of retaliatory missiles at US military bases in Gulf countries into Saturday evening, which have vowed to defend their sovereignty — sparking fears of a wider conflict in the Middle East.
