Octavia — A Life That Should Have Been Protected

On a quiet afternoon in November, 2-year-old Octavia lost her life in a tragedy that authorities described as preventable.

According to court records, her mother, Paige Nicole Bohne, became frustrated when Octavia would not nap. Prosecutors said the toddler was given melatonin gummies and then forcibly restrained on a couch, leading to suffocation.

Bohne later pleaded no contest to charges including child abuse and assault and was sentenced to 225 months to 45 years in prison.

Octavia will never have the chance to grow up, explore the world, or experience the simple joys of childhood.

Her death remains a heartbreaking reminder that every child deserves patience, protection, and unconditional love.
