“Finding your voice doesn’t mean losing your family.”

After Ruby Rossi’s stunning debut in the world of music, she’s now stepping into the pressure-cooker of a prestigious music conservatory, where competition is fierce and self-doubt creeps in. As Ruby’s talents evolve, she finds herself torn between her dreams of a solo career and her role in supporting her Deaf family, who still rely on her as their lifeline to the hearing world.

Back home, her parents, Frank (Troy Kotsur) and Jackie (Marlee Matlin), face their own challenges. Frank, ever the pragmatic father, struggles to accept Ruby’s increasing independence, while Jackie’s quiet strength proves the backbone that keeps them together. Ruby’s brother, Leo (Daniel Durant), is also finding his own voice in the family dynamics, learning to live without her constant presence.

Ruby begins to question if success in music is worth the distance it creates between her and her roots. Yet, through her journey, she learns that her family’s love and support, even from afar, is the true harmony that keeps her grounded. Her experiences at the conservatory push her to explore her own identity, finding ways to bridge her world of sound with the silence of her family, who continue to cheer her on from a different place.

As Ruby’s final performance approaches, she faces the ultimate choice: to follow her passion or return home and preserve the balance in her family. CODA II becomes a powerful testament to the idea that even in silence, family can be the loudest, most resounding source of strength. It’s a film about growing up, evolving, and realizing that true belonging comes not from fitting in, but from staying connected to those who have always believed in you.

The next verse begins.
