A Working Man (2025)

Jason Statham clocks in for another reliable beatdown in this no-frills action thriller from director David Ayer (fresh off The Beekeeper). Statham plays Levon Cade, a former black-ops soldier who’s traded covert missions for a quiet life in construction, raising his daughter and keeping his head down. But when his boss’s daughter (who’s like family) gets snatched by human traffickers, Levon dusts off his old skills and goes full vigilante—unearthing a massive web of corruption along the way.

It’s classic Statham: stoic, unbreakable, and delivering bone-crunching fights with that signature intensity. The action pops—brutal hand-to-hand, shootouts, and a memorable roadhouse brawl—but the plot feels predictable and a bit bloated at 1h 56m. Supporting turns from Michael Peña and David Harbour add some grit, though the script (co-written by Sylvester Stallone) leans hard on clichés. Critics gave it mixed marks (around 47% on Rotten Tomatoes), calling it efficient but lacking personality—basically meat-and-potatoes action that clocks in, does the job, and clocks out.

If you’re in for pure Statham-fueled revenge and don’t mind formula, it’s a solid popcorn flick. Think The Beekeeper with a construction helmet. Available on Prime Video now—grab it for a mindless thrill ride!
