The Bikeriders (2024)

Rev your engines for Jeff Nichols’ gritty, stylish dive into ’60s Midwest motorcycle culture! Inspired by Danny Lyon’s photo book, it follows the rise and fall of the fictional Vandals MC through the eyes of Kathy (Jodie Comer, absolutely stealing the show with her spot-on Chicago accent and fiery narration). She’s swept off her feet by wild, magnetic Benny (Austin Butler, channeling pure Marlon Brando cool), while club founder Johnny (Tom Hardy, mumbling menace at its finest) watches his brotherhood twist from fun rides to violent chaos.
The vibes are immaculate: roaring bikes, smoky bars, leather jackets, and that grainy ’60s aesthetic shot on film—it’s like stepping into a time capsule. Butler broods silently, Hardy chews scenery, and supporting players like Michael Shannon and Norman Reedus add grit. It’s less about high-octane action and more about lost innocence, toxic masculinity, and the pull of the open road turning dark.
Not perfect (pacing meanders, some threads fizzle), but the performances and atmosphere make it a moody, memorable ride. A solid throwback gangster tale on two wheels!
