Killer Elite (2011)

Jason Statham dominates as Danny Bryce, a retired elite killer dragged back into the game when his mentor Hunter (Robert De Niro, bringing that weary gravitas) gets captured. To save him, Danny takes on an impossible hit list tied to a ruthless sheikh—sparking a globe-trotting manhunt against Clive Owen’s relentless SAS agent Spike Logan. Throw in Dominic Purcell as the savage enforcer Davies, and you’ve got chaos dialed to eleven.
Directed by Gary McKendry and loosely based on Ranulph Fiennes’ novel, this gritty thriller bounces from Oman’s scorching deserts to London’s rainy streets with brutal shootouts, knife-edge chases, and hand-to-hand fury that feels raw and real. Statham’s cold intensity clashes perfectly with Owen’s sharp cunning and De Niro’s seasoned depth—the chemistry alone is worth the ride. Tense cinematography and a pounding score keep the adrenaline pumping, even if the plot twists get a bit tangled.
It’s loyalty, revenge, and betrayal wrapped in high-stakes action. Grossed $57M and still packs a punch for fans of no-nonsense thrillers. Solid 6.8/10—pure assassin cat-and-mouse fire!
