JACOB’S JOURNEY: A STORY OF COURAGE, HOPE, AND FAMILY

In 2019, when Jacob was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), we watched as his quiet strength rose to meet the fight. He became a marvel to everyone who loved him. Though we came frighteningly close to losing him, Jacob fought his way back. He eventually rang that bell marking the end of his treatment, and we dared to believe the darkest chapter of his life was behind him.

He told us that, during the fight, there was no room to think about the future. But now, with cancer behind him, he was eager to start imagining what the rest of his life would look like.

But now, his journey has taken an unexpected and devastating turn.

What started as a “black eye” that wouldn’t go away, eventually swelling to the size of a baseball, led to the heartbreaking news: his leukemia has returned. The swelling, once thought to be a simple bruise, has now been diagnosed as a tumor. Jacob’s oncologists have created a new treatment plan aimed at a stem cell transplant, but recent scans and lab results have shown the cancer progressing far faster than anticipated. The road ahead is unpredictable, and with it, our fears and hopes are growing.

Jacob’s journey is now a true “Choose Your Own Adventure,” a path filled with uncertain steps and difficult decisions. We are trying different treatments, hoping one will slow the cancer enough to make the transplant possible. Every day, we pray that his body responds to something, and we can find our way back to a stable place of healing.

The weight of medical bills is crushing.
Jacob cannot work, and the costs for his treatment — now far more extensive than we ever imagined — are overwhelming. We’re facing an uncertain future, but with the love and support of our family, we’re doing what we can to hold him up. The larger challenge is the mounting medical costs. The “Choose Your Own Adventure” treatments are expensive and there’s no roadmap or timeline, just hope, prayers, and the constant wish that we find something that works.
