BEN FOGLE’S HIDDEN STRUGGLES — Tragic Loss And Family Crisis Behind The Smile

Ben Fogle, the beloved TV presenter known for his daring adventures, has endured more tragedy than most.

From a near-death experience to the heartbreaking loss of a child, Fogle’s life has been filled with challenges that few can imagine. Now, he’s opening up about the darkest moments he’s faced—and how he’s coped with them.
Losing His Son, Willem
In 2014, Ben and his wife Marina faced an unimaginable tragedy: the stillbirth of their son, Willem, at 33 weeks. While Marina was in Austria, Ben was in Canada—and tragically, he couldn’t be there to support her. “It was hard. I don’t think I’ll ever forgive myself for being in Canada and being so helpless,” Ben revealed, sharing the depth of his grief on Loose Women.Ben Fogle pays heartbreaking tribute to son on 10th anniversary of stillbirth | Metro News

A Close Call with Losing His Wife
But that was just the beginning. Ben also came terrifyingly close to losing his wife, Marina. “She very nearly died,” he shared, recalling how doctors worked desperately to save her life. In fact, Marina was just moments away from death when medical staff fought to keep her alive. Ben admitted, “The thought of life without her was unbearable. It was so terrifying I can’t even explain it.”

Ben’s Near-Death Experience on a Quiet Lane
In 2024, Ben shared another shocking near-death experience with fans—this time while walking his dog. A delivery van came speeding around a blind corner, nearly hitting him and his dog. “I nearly died yesterday… on a small single-track lane outside my home,” he recalled, shaking his head at the irony that his brush with death happened so close to home.Ben Fogle on his drink spike horror and catching flesh-eating bug – Mirror Online

He then pleaded with the local council to lower the speed limit in the area, having seen just how dangerous the road could be.

A Family Under Scrutiny
Ben’s family life has also been affected by unexpected drama. In August 2024, Marina revealed that social services had questioned her over allegations of verbal abuse towards their children, Ludo and Iona, when they were toddlers. The claims were false, and after a brief investigation, the case was closed. But Marina admitted feeling both sick and furious about the entire ordeal, as her children had been put through unnecessary stress.
