When Everything Changes in a Moment

Today didn’t go the way we planned…
not even close.
This morning was supposed to be simple—
radiation, maybe a few hours of normal life squeezed in between.
But around 8 AM… everything changed.
Right in the middle of traffic,
Will’s nose started bleeding—
and it wouldn’t stop.
Just like that, the day shifted.
A phone call.
A quick decision.
And suddenly, we were headed straight to the hospital.

Now we’re sitting in Children’s Hospital,
waiting on bloodwork…
hoping his platelet levels are okay.
Will is anxious—
and honestly, who wouldn’t be?
The last time this happened,
it turned into nights in the hospital,
just to make sure he was safe.
And that’s the hardest part about this journey—
how quickly everything can change.
No time to prepare.
No packed bags.
No chargers.
Just moving from one moment to the next,
hoping you’re making the right decisions along the way.

Now we wait.
Wondering if today means staying a few nights…
or getting to go back home.
Because today was supposed to be simple.
He had something small planned—
just an afternoon of fishing. 🎣
Something he was really looking forward to.
So we keep talking about it.
Holding onto that plan.
Letting it be our “next step”… our little piece of normal.
And somehow, in the middle of it all,
we even found a reason to laugh—
at the makeshift tissue setup trying to stop the bleeding.
Because sometimes…
that laughter is the only thing keeping everything from feeling too heavy.
💛 For now, we’re just holding onto hope…
taking it one step at a time…
and believing that maybe, just maybe,
that fishing trip is still waiting for him
