China Voices Support for Iran Amid Escalating Middle East Tensions

The China has signaled clear diplomatic support for Iran amid rapidly escalating tensions in the Middle East, calling for restraint while criticizing recent military actions against Tehran.

Chinese officials condemned airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel, describing them as violations of international law and urging an immediate ceasefire. Beijing emphasized that disputes should be resolved through dialogue rather than force, warning that continued escalation could destabilize the broader region.

At the same time, China reaffirmed its long-standing position of supporting Iran’s sovereignty and “legitimate rights,” including its right to peaceful nuclear development. Officials stressed that diplomatic negotiation remains the only viable path forward.

Beyond politics, economic ties between the two countries remain strong. China continues to be a major buyer of Iranian oil, helping cushion global supply shocks despite rising geopolitical risks.

Analysts say China’s stance reflects a broader strategy: opposing Western military intervention while maintaining stability in energy supply routes critical to its economy. With the Strait of Hormuz under threat, Beijing has also warned of global economic consequences if the conflict worsens.

As tensions continue to rise, China positions itself as both a strategic partner to Iran and a diplomatic actor pushing for de-escalation—walking a fine line between support and stability.
