President Donald Trump said that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed during the Israeli and US airstrike.

– The US and Israel launched an airstrike on Iran’s political and military leaders on the morning of February 28, citing Tehran’s refusal to abandon its ambitions to possess nuclear weapons and develop long-range ballistic missiles.
– More than 200 people were killed in Iran.
– Iran responded with a barrage of ballistic missiles and drones targeting Israel and bases in Middle Eastern countries. At least one person was killed in Israel.

– The United Nations and many countries called on all parties to exercise restraint, end the conflict, and resolve it peacefully.
– Fifteen hours after launching the operation, Trump declared Iran’s Supreme Leader “killed”. He warned that the offensive would continue, calling on the Iranian military to lay down their weapons and for the Iranian people to “reclaim their country.”
– Iranian media confirmed 3.5 hours later that the Supreme Leader had been killed, adding that many of his followers had also died.

President Trump declares Iran’s Supreme Leader has been assassinated.
“Khamenei, one of the most evil men in history, is dead. This is not only justice for the Iranian people, but also for all the great Americans, and for people from many countries around the world who have been murdered or disabled by Khamenei and his bloodthirsty gang,” U.S. President Donald Trump wrote in a Facebook post on Truth Social on February 28, referring to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
President Trump said that Khamenei could not escape the sophisticated intelligence and surveillance systems of the U.S. and Israel. “Khamenei and the other leaders who died with him could not do otherwise,” Trump wrote.

“This is the only and greatest opportunity for the Iranian people to reclaim their country. We are hearing that many members of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), their military, police, and security forces no longer want to fight and want us to spare their lives. As I said last night: ‘Now they can choose to live, but later they will only face death!'” the US President declared.
Mr. Trump expressed hope that the IRGC and police “will join with patriotic Iranians and cooperate to bring the country back to greatness,” urging that this process begin soon, given the devastating damage Iran suffered in just one day.

“The intense and precise bombing will continue, uninterrupted throughout this week or longer if necessary, until we achieve our goal of peace throughout the Middle East and the world!” he concluded the post.

Hours before Mr. Trump’s statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Supreme Leader Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian were both “safe and well.” However, Mr. Khamenei has not appeared in public or on video since the US-Israeli attack began.
