“THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE ANGRY”: Scott Presler Issues a Final Warning to Senator John Thune
Scott Presler, founder of Early Vote Action, has taken the fight for election integrity directly to Senate Majority Leader John Thune, warning that the Republican Party’s future hangs in the balance. In an open letter addressed to Thune, Presler emphasized that if the Senate doesn’t pass the SAVE America Act, the GOP risks losing both the House and Senate in the upcoming midterms.
The SAVE America Act, passed by the House on February 11 with a narrow vote of 218-213, would require proof of citizenship to register and photo identification to vote in federal elections. Presler made it clear that this legislation is a top priority for the American people, stating, “The American people are angry,” and accusing the Senate of failing to act while the House and President Trump are doing their part.
Presler’s message to Thune was blunt: the Senate’s failure to act could result in the loss of the Republican majority. “If you do not bring the SAVE America Act to the Senate floor and ultimately pass the bill into law, Republicans will lose both the House and Senate this November,” Presler wrote, warning that Republicans risk alienating their base if they do not address election security.
Presler also posed a stark choice for Thune: to become “the hero in the majority” who secures American elections or to be the leader who “ushered in the decline of the United States.” He warned that the anger of the American people is real and that voters will not turn out unless they are confident that the election system is secure.
In a final call to action, Presler stated he would be traveling to South Dakota in March for SAVE America rallies to engage with Thune’s constituents and gauge their feelings on the issue. “We will not stop; we will not back down; we will not relent; we will not forget,” he vowed, making it clear that the push for election integrity would continue until the SAVE America Act is signed into law.
“Either wield power and be remembered as a hero in the majority, or lose it all with a Democrat takeover as the minority,” Presler concluded. The pressure is on, and the clock is ticking for Senate Republicans.
