Columbine High School

Columbine High School

On April 20, 1999, what began as an ordinary morning at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, became one of the most devastating school tragedies in U.S. history.

Two students carried out a planned attack that included explosives and firearms. When their bombs failed to detonate as intended, they opened fire inside the school — targeting classmates and teachers in hallways and the library.

Thirteen people were killed.
More than 20 were injured.
A nation was forever changed.

The tragedy sparked nationwide conversations about school safety, bullying, youth violence, mental health, and access to weapons — discussions that continue decades later.

Columbine was not just a single day of violence.
It became a turning point in how communities think about prevention, warning signs, and the responsibility to protect young lives.

Today, the victims are remembered not for how they died — but for who they were, and the lives they were meant to live. 🕯️
