Coronation Street has recast a major character after seven years on screens and their replacement will be arriving this week.

The role of Harry Platt has previously been shared between twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes since 2017.

But as of December 11, the role will be played by 10-year-old rising star Carter-J Murphy.

Carter-J is also playing a young Robbie Williams in the singer’s biopic, Better Man, releasing in cinemas on December 26.

Revealing the recasting, Jack P Shepherd, who plays Harry Platt’s half-uncle, said: ‘They’ve just recast the lad who plays Harry. Carter is very, very confident.’  

Harry was born in 2016 and is the son of Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and villain Callum Logan. He is the half-brother of Bethany Platt and Max Turner.

Harry and Max’s father, Callum, was killed by Max’s mother, Kylie Platt, after he ᴀssaulted Sarah before Harry was born.

His body was buried underneath the annex at No.8 but was discovered after Harry was born which landed Sarah in hospital with postnatal psychosis, having believed that Callum was still alive.

Carter-J makes his Corrie debut as the youngest member of the Platt family amid heaps of drama.

David and Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) are hiding large sums of money from the family, which David stole from dangerous gangster Harvey Gaskell.

This week, the pair are stuck in a sticky situation when little Harry appears with a fistful of the cash.

Meanwhile, David and Shona’s marriage hangs in the air after a string of lies and betrayals are uncovered.

Shona had an affair with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) after David deliberately hid visiting orders from Shona’s son Clayton.

Elsewhere, Jesse and Gail Platt (Helen Worth) are planning their wedding on Christmas day and discussing emigrating abroad, ahead of Gail’s exit from the cobbles after 50 years.
