In the wake of the shocking changes to camp, the I’m A Celeb contestants have revealed some of the cunning ways they are cutting costs in the jungle.

After winning jungle money in the gag-inducing Rank Bank bushtucker trial on Thursday, the campmates were given ‘jungle cash cards’ to access basic amenities, like the toilet, shower, pool and bath.

But with each one costing $10 a pop, the celebs have started to become savvy in how to save their hard-earned cash.

Loose Woman star, Jane Moore, 62, admitted to Richard Coles, also 62 that rather than paying to use the dunny she has resorted to drastic measures.

She said: ‘I’ve taken to spitting my toothpaste in the garbage bag so I don’t have to go and pay $10!’

TikTok star GK Barry, 25, took to washing her armpits in the sink rather than showering as she joked: ‘I’m trying to save on everything so I can get a bottle of prosecco with a straw. That’s what I’m craving at the minute.’

Melvin Odoom who was left trembling in fear as he took on the latest Bushtucker trial in place of Barry McGuigan told the Bush Telegraph: ‘Times are tough in the jungle right about now. We’re trying to come up with money saving tips to save as much money as possible.’

Meanwhile, Maura admitted she woke up feeling like a mess. Asking Jane if her hair was ok, she said: ‘My husband is never gonna fancy me!’

However Richard was quick to brighten her spirits, as he said: ‘You look great Maura, if I was heteroSєxual I’d be kneeling before you with a bunch of roses!’

Viewers were put off by Jane spitting in the bin to save cash as they wrote on X: ‘Didn’t really need to see Jane Moore spitting toothpaste into a rubbish bag.’

‘Spitting in the bin is nasty let alone while brushing your teeth’.. ‘Please Jane, you are in there for the money.’

Others wrote: ‘Not the celebrities facing real life money struggles’… ‘Inflation has hit the jungle! Nowhere is safe!’

It comes after the celebrities had to adjust to a whole new camp during Thursday’s episode after winning jungle money in the gag-inducing Rank Bank bushtucker trial.

They were given ‘jungle cash cards’ to access basic amenities, which meant that using the toilet, shower, pool and bath cost a whopping $10.

As Maura Higgins, 34, and influencer GK Barry, 25, approached the turnstiles to access the toilet, Maura asked: ‘What if we cheat and something happens?’

‘Are we risking it or not?’ Love Island alum Maura asked.

GK reasoned, ‘I mean, it’s only $10,’ to which Maura sH๏τ back: ‘That’s an expensive p**s!’

‘Extremely expensive,’ GK agreed, before using her jungle card to get through the turnstile.

Speaking in the Bush Telegraph later, Maura raged: ‘Scandalous! Absolutely scandalous!’

‘It’s 10 dollars to take a p**s! I guess $500 is a lot but I just don’t know how long that’s going to last.’

The campmates had to earn their everyday essentials with a stomach-churning trial involving pig testicles and fish eyes during the Rank Bank challenge earlier in the episode.

The stars were split into three teams and pitted against each other to earn the most money for their campmates.

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall helmed the Blue Team with Tulisa Contostavlos, Reverend Richard Coles, and Barry McGuigan.

McFly’s Danny Jones led the Orange Team with Maura, GK, and Strictly’s Oti Mabuse.

She fumed, ‘That’s an expensive p**s!’

Radio DJ Dean McCullough headed up the Pink Team with Jane Moore, and Melvin Odoom.

Presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly explained: ‘Jungle life is about to get very expensive.

‘Everyday essentials in camp are going to cost you money and to pay for them you’ll have to use your jungle cash card.’

Alan nailed three out of the four races, earning $1,100 for his group, while Danny and Dean raked in $500 each.

The group returned to camp to find turnstiles to use the toilet, shower, pool and bath, along with a vending wall depositing fresh filtered water and logs for the fire, priced at $10 per item.

Stars could also buy extra treats for the camp at a treat machine.

‘It’s a bit like buying tickets to an Oasis concert,’ Richard complained about the new prices.

Later, Maura, Jane, and Richard took part in a challenge which involved taking a phone call, memorising the call’s hold music and being asked a question about its lyrics.

On Thursday night’s episode, Dean McCullough, 32, Danny Jones, 38, and Alan Halsall, 42, competed to win jungle dollars for camp in The Rank Bank trial

The contestants won $200 for their cash cards for each correct answer.

After all three songs had played, Maura and Richard earned $600 each, while Jane banked $400.

At the end of the episode, Alan, Dean and Danny treated their friends to an eight-star dinner, with each star priced at $100.

Jane is best known as a panellist and anchor of Loose Women
