Jennifer Garner is sharing some wise relationship advice she once received from her mother.

During a guest appearance on the Lipstick on the Rim podcast, Garner, 52, was asked about her favorite saying.

“What’s your favorite quote or mantra?” asked co-host Emese Gormley.

“There’s so many,” responded the Family Switch actress. “They are all from my mom.”

She said that her mom has acquired certain quotes or phrases from a variety of sources, like, “Mrs. Ingall’s from Little House on the Prairie or Anne of Green Gables or The Bible.”

She then recited some of her mother’s favorite quotes, including, “Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5), and that “‘Happiness is your own responsibility’ is vintage Pat Garner.”

She also added that one of her mother’s favorite quotes is “don’t marry a man thinking you can change him,” prompting all three to start laughing.

In a tongue-in-cheek, self-aware manner, Garner added that she is going to “really work on that one.”

Garner married Foley, now 52, in 2000 and were together for four years before the pair divorced in 2004.

A year later, in 2005, she married Ben Affleck. The pair welcomed three children — Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12 – before separating in 2015 and finalizing their divorce in 2018.

The famous ex-duo recently reunited on Thanksgiving to ᴀssist the unhoused in Los Angeles. Alongside their children, they worked with the organization The Midnight Mission to hand out food to those in need. The human services organization’s official Instagram page thanked the co-parents in a post.

“Today, we were honored to have Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner join us at The Midnight Mission for Thanksgiving!,” the organization captioned the post. “Their kindness, warmth, and dedication brought so much joy to our Skid Row community,”

Back in August, a source exclusively told Us Weekly about the current state of their relationship.

“Ben and Jennifer are friends, and they have a great coparenting relationship,” said the source, adding that .
