Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Julie Bowen aren’t siblings in real life, but the Modern Family costars had a very similar Thanksgiving scare.
“It’s not a holiday without a trip to the ER,” Bowen, 54, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, November 28, alongside a pH๏τo of one of her three sons standing outside the emergency room late at night.
The actress didn’t identify which of her kids was sick, but told her followers: “(He’s fine, btw) HAPPY THANKSGIVING.”
Bowen shares son Oliver, 17, and twin sons John and Gustav, 15, with ex-husband Scott Phillips. She and Phillips separated in February 2017 after 13 years of marriage.
Bowen wasn’t the only one who spent the holiday navigating a less-than-ideal circumstance. Ferguson, 49, shared a pH๏τo with one of his sons from a hospital bed on the same day.

“I have received a lot of parenting wisdom from @itsjuliebowen so seeing I wasn’t the only one with a kid in the ER on Thanksgiving was comforting,” Ferguson captioned the snap on Friday, November 29, which showed one of his boys resting on his chest in the ER.
The actor revealed that his little one is “also fine” and thanked the “kind folks” working at Lennox Health for their help. “NYC really DOES have the best healthcare,” Ferguson concluded.
Ferguson shares sons Beckett, 4, and Sullivan “Sully,” 2, with husband Justin Mikita, whom he wed in 2013.
Fans of the Modern Family costars, who played Claire and Mitchell respectively on the ABC comedy from 2009 to 2020, shared their well wishes for each family.

“Happy Thanksgiving!! I’m glad he’s OK. He just wants to have stories to tell at future gatherings,” one fan teased in the comments section of Bowen’s post.
A second user wrote, “I didn’t wanna see this coming but here we are. 😅 Get well, Gus! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Julie! Hope you’re having a great holiday (despite this ER run). <3.”
When it comes to Ferguson’s post, one fan wrote in the comments section, “Sending love and healing … and rest❤️.”

“This pH๏τo of me taking my first steps away from my mom’s opened arms is one of my favorite pictures,” he continued. “In recent days I helped my mom take some of her last steps.”
