Virgin River is back for a new chapter — with one big surprise already revealed.
The trailer for season 6 of the hit Netflix show was released on Friday, November 29, showing fans what’s next for Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson).
Much of the trailer shows the two leads preparing for their upcoming wedding, with their relationship being built up over the five previous seasons.
“Here is to second chances, second chapters and most of all to the lovely couple,” says Dr. Vernon Mullins (Tim Matheson) in the trailer.
The preview also revealed an exciting surprise for fans of the long-running show, with one character getting his own second chance and second chapter.
Ricky (Grayson Gurnsey) is back for the first time since Season 4. Around 16 seconds into the trailer, he’s seen briefly with his ex-girlfriend Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) as the two on a bridge and lean on each other.
The last time we saw Ricky, he and Lizzie were broken up. She was with Denny (Kai Bradbury) as Ricky was leaving for basic training. While Ricky wasn’t around for season 5, the end of that chapter saw Lizzie telling Denny that she was pregnant.
TVLine had previously reported that Ricky almost made an appearance in season 5.
“In full honesty, having him return [for Christmas] was part of the plan,” showrunner Patrick Sean Smith said in November 2023. “But the episodes were so full already, having to answer the cliffhangers from part 1 and then setting up the cliffhangers for season 6, and all of the fun that we had planned.”
Season 5 was filled with heavy drama and emotional plot points, including a destructive wildfire hitting the town of Virgin River. Mel and Jack struggled with their own issues, as a pregnancy turned into a miscarriage during the season.
“I feel like the luckiest girl in the world, who is trusting in forever again,” says Mel in the trailer.
